SNP Seize Control of Stirling Council

Stirling Council is now run by a minority SNP administration. A vote of no confidence was held on March 13th and the ruling Labour/Lib Dem tendered their resignation. Fergus Wood was appointed the Provost of Stirling, the first SNP provost for nearly 40 years.
This is a historical opportunity for the SNP in Stirling to make Stirling a better and safer place to live. We are up for the challenge.
The SNP group will put in place the foundations for the next UK General Election, when we expect to remove Anne McGuire as the MP for Stirling. Mrs McGuire's time is up, her support for the Iraq war, continuing support for nuclear weapons and voting for post office closures will come back to haunt her.
The SNP will ensure that there is no hiding place for Mrs McGuire and I look forward to seeing her removed from office like her Unionist colleague Sylvia Jackson was in 2007.
Councillor Alasdair MacPherson 6th May 2008
