Tackling Crime in Bannockburn
I realise that there is no overnight solution to crime in any town. However,I
am convinced that the setting up of a community youth programme, which
would encourage local youths off the street, would be a step in the right
direction.
The youth of today in Bannockburn do not have access to any structured
activity for them in the town.
A youth project, with input from senior members of the community, the police, community
councillors, would encourage the formation of some form of relationship
with local youths.
A common complaint we have been hearing on the doorsteps is that local
youths have no respect for their elders.
The setting up of a community based youth project would in my opinion
be a step in the right direction.
It would help forge links between the senior members of our community
and hopefully breed long term respect from the young people of our town.
I would also propose to set up a neighbourhood watch scheme.
Neighbourhood watch schemes work effectively in other parts of the country
and I do not see such a scheme could not work in Baannockburn.
The suppliers of hard drugs is another scourge in our community.
I welcome the commitment of zero tolerance to drug dealers the Chief Constable
of Central Scotland Police has adopted.
If I am elected,I would be more than happy for constituents to come to
me at my surgeries, and inform me of the dealers of hard drugs in our community.
I would have no problem in liaising with the local police to help convict
the peddlers of misery in our community.
I make this pledge to the Bannockburn community:
I promise that I will work non stop on behalf of the community of Bannockburn
to help to tackle crime and rid the community of drug dealers from our
town.
