Keith Brown: SNP MSP for Ochil Constituency |

Keith is the MSP for the newer schemes of houses in Bannockburn, the L&C estates and the MacLean homes. Keith's constituency also covers Cowie, Fallin, Plean, Throsk and the rural communities around these settlements.
Originally from Edinburgh, Keith now lives in Dollar with his three children. After serving in the Royal Marines for three years, including active duty in the Falklands War, Keith enrolled at Dundee University where he studied political science. For the past 15 years Keith has worked as a local government officer for Stirling Council, with responsibility for issues such as helping community councils. During his time at Stirling Council Keith served as a shop steward for UNISON and remains a member.
Keith first became involved in politics in the early 80s after feeling that Scotland could be achieving so much more and was being let down by the Tory government he joined the campaign for a Scottish Assembly in 1983. He first stood as a candidate for the SNP at the General Election in 1992 and since then has been a parliamentary candidate on a number of occasions, including standing as the SNP candidate in Ochil in the 2001 Westminster election.
In 1996 Keith got the opportunity to fight the local government by-election in Alva, when he was successfully elected. In 1999, the SNP won a sweeping victory in Clackmannanshire and Keith was elected leader of the council. That position was cemented with the Delph and Cambus by-election victory of 2000.
When he is not working, supporting his constituents in
Alva, or fighting for the SNP, Keith enjoys football and what the wonderful
outdoors has to offer in Scotland though not as often as he would
like!
Keith is the Minister for Schools and Skills at the Scottish Parliament.
